The air was damp, earthy, laced with the sweetness of roasted nuts from a vendor. Yet barriers pressed in: the sky was cloudy, the light faint, and people swarmed everywhere, crowding the view.
Still, determination carried me forward. I pushed through clusters of tourists, brushing shoulders, nearly knocking into knees with my tripod. A few muttered, some shot me looks, and for a moment I feared I’d gone too far—that anger might ruin my chance altogether. But then the view opened, and there it was: the falls in their full glory, silver ribbons cascading against dark basalt.
